How can I convert video cassette tapes to digital without the original camera?

I have a CCD-FX310 Sony Video 8 Handycam bought in early 1990s. When we have tried to replay the tapes on the camera the screen on the camera is grey and the picture is noisy on the TV. I want to convert these tapes to digital but I think the camera is broken. I am wondering if there is a good way to convert these or perhaps even “clean” the camera. or you can buy a VHS to DVD burner?player but you will not be able to edit it if it comes out bad. I Used the first and second item i listed and both work good. Nicholas
You can have a service do the DVDs for you for about $6.00 to $10.00 each. Or you can have the camera serviced. Another poster found it was cheaper buying a used Sony Video 8 camera off eBay. You’ll still need a analog to digital converter cable and software. Oreo
